Last week , we saw the video at our class named "way of seeing "which was spoken by John Berger. It was quite difficult to understand competely as so many complicated and new words in it.
From the video we could understand that there are many similarities between oil painting and publicity such as same references , quanities, things and using same ideas and a lot of parts of oil painting are used by publicity as a symbol. However the fundamental between oil painting and publicity is different. Oil painting presents the owner's enjoyment of their position and real life. It demonstrates their own value and sense. But publicity as a hint idicates that the desire which we have not achieved and can get by money. Oil painting is fine art, nevertheless publicity is commercial product.
Publicity produce the glamour and we are all subconsciously affected and told that we can not affort without glamour. The content of publicity gradually become the life which we dream. Publicity explains the world in its own way and it forms its own philosophy system. Meanwhile objects are neutral and publicity pack in this way and it makes them become more close to us without any aggression and subconciouslizing our concept. As the abuse of using of celebrities and publicity of products contribut the content to caricature.
Although it is seems that the words on the magazine is conncet with the real word and it seems that the dream close to the fact, but in fact there is no any connected band betwen the two world.It merely fills the gap btween the two world.
